GameBuddy — Terms of Service and End User Licence Agreement

these terms. It matches TermsPolicy.CURRENT_VERSION in the application.
1. Who may use GameBuddy
GameBuddy is for adults. You must be 18 years of age or older to create or hold an account. There is no younger tier, no parental-consent route, and no supervised mode.
When you register you give your date of birth. We calculate your age from it and refuse the account if it puts you under 18. If we later learn that an account holder is under 18, we close the account and delete the data associated with it.
2. No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users on GameBuddy.
You agree not to submit, post, send or upload content that is:
- sexually explicit, or sexualises any person under 18 in any way;
- hateful, or that attacks or demeans a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation;
- threatening, harassing, or that encourages self-harm or violence against anyone;
- deceptive — impersonating another person, or misrepresenting who you are;
- unlawful, or that infringes anybody else’s rights;
- spam, advertising, or an attempt to move people to a service where none of these rules apply in order to do something that would break them here.
You also agree not to use GameBuddy to solicit money, personal financial information, or sexual content from other account holders.
Consequences. Content that breaks these rules is removed. Accounts that submit it are suspended or terminated. We do not require a pattern of behaviour before acting: a single serious violation is enough, and for anything involving the sexualisation of children we terminate immediately and report to the appropriate authorities. Our Child Safety Standards set out exactly what happens then, and name the person to contact.
3. Reporting, and what we commit to
Every profile has a report control, reachable from anywhere that profile appears — the feed, a conversation, a lobby. Every chat message can be reported by the person who received it. Every account can be blocked, from the profile screen and from within a conversation. Blocking is immediate and mutual — a blocked account can no longer see you, be matched with you, or continue an open conversation with you.
We commit to reviewing every report and acting on it within 24 hours of receiving it. Acting means removing the content, suspending the account, terminating the account, or recording that the report was not founded. Reports involving a child are dealt with ahead of everything else and are not held to that window. You can also reach us directly at the address in section 14.
4. Automated screening
Some screening happens before content is published, and it is not perfect:
- Profile pictures are checked by an automated classifier before they appear to anyone. Images the classifier is confident are sexual are refused. Images it is unsure about are held, unpublished, for review by a person.
- Text you submit is filtered. Some words are masked; slurs and sexual abuse are refused outright. Where text is visible to people you have not matched with — your profile, a lobby’s name and description — email addresses, links and phone numbers are removed.
Automated screening supplements human review. It does not replace it, and it is not a guarantee that everything you see has been checked. If something you submitted was refused and you believe that was wrong, write to us and a person will look at it.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of what you create. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display it for the purpose of operating GameBuddy — and for no other purpose. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep to comply with law or to enforce these terms.
You are responsible for what you submit, and you confirm you have the right to submit it.
6. Your licence to use GameBuddy, and its limits
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use GameBuddy on devices you control, for your own personal and non-commercial use. Every right we do not grant here stays with us.
You agree not to:
- reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the app, except to the extent the law gives you that right regardless of what this document says;
- use bots, scripts, scrapers or any other automated means against the service, or collect other people’s profiles, photographs or messages in bulk by any means;
- work around rate limits, quotas, paid limits or a suspension — including by creating another account;
- interfere with the service or attempt to gain access to any part of it, or to any account, that is not yours;
- sell, rent, lend or share your account, or use GameBuddy to advertise, recruit or promote anything.
Finding and reporting a security flaw is welcome and is not a breach of this section, provided you tell us at the address in section 14 before telling anybody else, and do not access, alter or keep data belonging to another account.
7. Your account
Keep your password to yourself. Tell us if you believe somebody else has used your account. One person, one account. Do not create an account to evade a suspension.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app: Settings → Delete account. It requires your password, and it is not reversible. You can also do it from findgamebuddy.com/delete-account without opening the app.
When you delete, your profile, photograph, matches and personal details are removed. Your messages in other people’s conversations are anonymised rather than erased, because they are part of a record that belongs to more than one person — the other participant keeps their side of a conversation they took part in.
9. Purchases
GameBuddy is free to use. Some features — additional daily likes, cosmetic items — can be bought.
Who you buy from. Purchases are processed by Google Play or the App Store, and in most countries Google or Apple, not us, is the seller. Their refund policies apply, and their support handles the money. If a purchase does not arrive, tell us and we will fix what is ours to fix.
Changing your mind. In the EU you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. Coins and cosmetic items are delivered the moment you buy them, and by buying them you ask for that immediate delivery and accept that the withdrawal right ends once delivery is complete. Nothing here affects a refund you are entitled to because something was faulty or was not what it was described to be.
Coins and items. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be moved between accounts. If you delete your account, or we terminate it for breaking these terms, unspent coins and unused items are lost and are not refunded. If we terminate an account and it turns out we were wrong, we put back what was there.
10. If you installed GameBuddy from the App Store
This agreement is between you and us. Apple is not a party to it.
Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for GameBuddy, and is not responsible for it or its content, nor for addressing any claim you may have about it — including product liability, a failure to comply with a legal requirement, or a claim under consumer protection law. If the app fails to conform to any warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price if there was one; beyond that Apple has no warranty obligation whatsoever. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any United States list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you.
11. What we do not promise
GameBuddy is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, that it will match you with anybody, or that other account holders are who they say they are. We may change features, and retire them — as we retired communities in favour of lobbies. Use ordinary judgement when meeting people from the internet. Tell somebody where you are going, meet in public first, and do not send money to somebody you have met here.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of GameBuddy or from your dealings with other account holders. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
12. Ending it, and disagreeing with us
You can stop using GameBuddy at any time by deleting your account.
We can suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms. When we do, we will tell you what rule was broken, unless saying so would interfere with an investigation or the law prevents it. If you think we got it wrong, write to the address in section 14 and a person will look at the decision again — for anything short of child sexual abuse or exploitation, where the decision is final and is not open to appeal.
13. Changes
We will update these terms when the service changes. Material changes are announced in the app, and the version recorded against your account tells us which version you agreed to.

These terms are governed by Finnish law. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country you live in, including your right to bring a dispute before the courts of that country or to a consumer dispute body such as the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta).
